Incomplete uploads occur when the file you are attempting to upload fails to completely upload into Revver. File upload issues can disrupt your workflow but are often caused by manageable factors like network speed or security settings.

Recognizing Incomplete Uploads

Method 1 - Your Upload Queue

Incomplete uploads are listed in your uploads list. The icon for which can be found at the top right of the Revver page:

Clicking on this icon will provide you with a list of files that have been recently uploaded and will include any failed uploads listed in red.

Method 2 - File Size

All files that have been uploaded to completion will have a valid file size, as shown below:

When a file fails to upload fully, it may still appear in the folder or drawer you uploaded it to, but will have a invalid file size. If the size of the file shows as 0kb, it is an incomplete file that may have been caused by an incomplete upload.

What To Do When a File Fails To Upload

It's important to note that incompletely uploaded files never made it to our servers. Files that failed to upload to completion are not present within Revver and cannot be recovered within Revver.

In order to recover these files, first consider how you uploaded the file:

Scanned Files

If you scanned the file and stored it to Revver prior to uploading the file, and have since cleared the files from the Revver Scanner application. You will need to re-scan them and store them before attempting another upload.

Printed Files

If you used the printer add-on provided by the Revver Desktop App, re-print the document to Revver so you can attempt to store it again.

Manually Uploaded Files

If you uploaded it directly to Revver via any of the upload buttons, or through dragging and dropping, you can do so again to get the file back into the upload queue to try again.

For preventative measures, always maintain an uninterrupted connection during uploads, and avoid shutting down your device or disconnecting Wi-Fi midway. Additionally, after retrying the upload, ensure that your internet remains stable throughout the process and confirm that the file appears intact in your uploads list.

Potential Causes

Incomplete uploads can occur for a variety of reasons, ranging from poor internet connections to network based security standing in the way. Here are some common causes and steps you can take to try and troubleshoot them.

  • Poor Connection / Dropped Packets

    • If you are accessing Revver over a wireless internet connection, try connecting using an ethernet cable if one is available.

    • Talk to your ISP about any connection disruptions or quality issues you may be experiencing.

  • Internet Loss

    • If your connection is disrupted entirely, try contacting your ISP about local outages or disruptions.

  • Anti-Virus / Firewall / Network Security

    • These don't often cause incomplete uploads, but can potentially block you from being able to upload to Revver if they have high restrictions. Speak to your IT professional about making exceptions for Revver.

    • For recommended exceptions, see the following article: Revver - Web Page Approval List

  • Navigating away from the documents page

    • If you navigate away from the documents page while an upload is still in progress, it will interrupt the upload and may produce an incomplete upload entry in your queue. Restart the upload whenever able to try again.
