In this article we cover how a user can remove governance settings from files and locations within Revver.
Access & Permissions Required
In order for users to be able to manage governance settings, they will require both the 'Governance' and 'Governance Management' user permissions.
In addition to the above, the user will also need the 'Admin' permission on the file or location they are managing governance settings for.
Instructions to Edit or Remove Governance Settings
Step 1 - Create a governance change reason
If you haven't already done so, you will need to create a governance change reason in Revver. Every governance alteration or removal requires a reason for audit logging purposes.
Create a new governance change reason by clicking on the 'All Features' option on the left hand side of your screen and selecting the 'Governance' option located under the 'Work' column.
On the 'Governance' page, type a reason for the change into the text box and then press the add button.
Once you've done so, that reason will become available to choose from when initiating a governance change or removal.
Step 2 - Select the Item you want to edit or remove the governance settings from
Head back to your documents view by clicking on the 'Documents' option on the left hand side. From here, select the file or location you want to edit or remove governance settings from.
Step 3 - Open the Governance Panel
Click on the 'Governance' icon on the toolbar on the right hand side of the screen.
Doing so will open the governance panel, which lists any and all governance settings present on that item.
Step 4 - Open up the governance settings
The governance panel, now open, lists any and all governance settings that have been configured on the item you have selected.
In order to edit or remove the governance setting, click on the edit icon to the right of the listing:
Step 5 - Unlock the governance settings
To alter or remove governance settings, you must first unlock them. This is done by selecting a governance change reason from the drop down list at the top of the panel:
Step 6 - Make changes or delete the setting
With a reason selected from the drop down menu, the settings should now be available for changes. You can modify any option of the governance setting as needed.
Once finished, click on the 'Save' button at the bottom of the panel. You may need to scroll down to see it.
To delete a governance setting entirely, click the 'Delete' button instead, located to the right of the 'Save' button. You must still select a governance change reason in order to delete the setting:
