Revver possesses robust features that enable users to securely share sensitive documents with both internal and external users. The platform offers an online portal, which facilitates efficient and secure document sharing while ensuring maximum control and protection over the data.

Access & Permissions Required

In order to share to a new or existing guest user, your user will require the 'Share with Guests' enabled feature.

Sharing Documents and Containers

Sharing is done from your Documents view. Start by navigating to the 'Documents' page by clicking on the folder icon on the left hand side of your screen.

From there, locate a file or container you want to share with your guest. Right click it and select the 'Share' option.

Please Note: Guest users can only be provided access to drawers and folders. Cabinets cannot be shared to guest users.

This opens up the Share menu, where you can configure the recipient of the share and what permissions they receive.

Configuring your Share

Step 1 - Enter the recipients email address or choose an existing user

If the recipient of your share is not already a guest user, simply enter their email address into the 'To' field. When you finalize the share, this will create a guest user for them automatically.

If you are sharing to an existing user, the 'To' field also functions like a drop down menu you can use to select existing users.

Optional Steps - Add a custom subject and/or message

The fields below the 'To' field allow you to configure a custom subject line or message. These will be shared with the user via email when they are notified of the share.

Step 2 - Choose the recipients permissions

Below the custom message field, you can choose what permissions the guest user receives to this file or location. By default, the guest user receives the ability to view and download the file.

To allow your guest user to upload, you will want to ensure that you are providing them with the following:

  • You must share a folder or drawer to the guest user. If you simply share a file, the guest user only receives permissions to that file, and will not have any ability to upload to a location within your Revver account.

  • You must provide them with the 'Edit' permission. The edit permission is what allows the guest user to upload files to the location you are providing access to.

Optional Steps - Advanced Settings

Under the 'Advanced Settings' section, the following options are available for your share.

  • Allow existing users to skip the login page

    • This will send the recipient of this share an instant sign-in link along with their share notification, allowing them to skip the login authentication process and access the file(s) directly.

  • Notify the Recipient

    • By default, the 'New Uploads' option is always checked, but can be configured to notify the recipient of this share whenever a file is downloaded or deleted from this location on your account.

  • Set an Expiration Date

    • This setting allows you to configure an expiry for the share. After the expiration date comes to pass, the access your guest user receives to this location will be removed.
