Revver Reports provides you with an incredibly effective way of organizing and analyzing your data, allowing you to extract valuable insights that can give your business an edge. With these powerful reporting tools, you can transform raw data into dynamic, visually stunning reports that can help you make informed decisions and drive success.

This article covers the creation of a Data Source, which is the first step towards creating your first report or dashboard. A data source is where Revver Reports will pull information from when creating a report or dashboard. Our data source creation tools give you the flexibility to make your data source as broad or narrow as you need.

Access & Permissions Required

In order to access Revver Reports, your user will require the 'Revver Reports' feature to be enabled on their account.

Creating data sources in Revver Reports requires that the user be able to view the location(s) used in the data source, as well as their profile information.

Accessing Revver Reports

Revver Reports is accessed by clicking on the Revver Reports option on the left hand side of your screen in Revver.

Creating a Data Source

Step 1 - Create a Data Source

To create your first data source, navigate to the Revver Reports screen and click on 'Data Sources' and then 'Create New'.

Step 2 - Name Your Data Source

The only required step is that you provide your data source with a name, which you enter into the top most field on the data source creation window.

Step 3 - (Optional) Add Filters and/or Containers

By default, with no filters or containers, your data source will be comprised of everything on your Revver account. However, if you don't need to pull data from your entire account, we recommend adding filters or selecting which containers you want to pull data from specifically.

Filters

Filters allow you to filter the content of your data source using a number of search operators. For example, you could add a filter that looks for locations or files with specific profile information, created within certain date ranges, or created by certain users.

To add a filter, first make sure you are on the 'Filters' option by clicking on the button at the bottom right of the data source creation window. Then click on '+ Add' at the top right

Clicking on '+ Add' will give you access to the search operators you can use to configure your filter. Use the drop down menus to choose which operators you want to filter by. You can add additional filters by clicking on the '+ Add' button again.

Containers

Containers on the other hand, allow you to pick and choose only the cabinets, drawers, or folders you need.

To add a container to your data source, click on the 'Containers' button at the bottom right of the data source creation window.

Once you click it, you will be greeted by a list of the cabinets in your Revver account. Check the box next to each cabinet you want to include in your data source.

Optionally, click on the caret icon to the left of each cabinet to expand it so you can select individual drawers. Drawers can also be expanded, giving access to individual folders or sub-folders as well.

Step 5 - Save Your Data Source

Once you're satisfied, click on the 'Save' button at the bottom right of the data source creation window. Data source creation can take a couple of minutes to complete, depending on the amount of data your source represents.
