Watched folders are locations on your computer that you can tell Revver to monitor for files. Any time you place a file in that folder on your computer, if Revver is open it will automatically pull that file in for uploading.

Access & Features Required

Creating a watched folder only requires that you have the Revver Desktop App installed and that you have a location on your computer that you would like to use as the watched folder. However, in order to upload files to Revver, you will at least need 'Upload' permissions to the location in Revver.

Creating a Watched Folder

To create a watched folder, you will need the Revver Desktop App installed. If you don't have it installed, please see our article about getting it set up here:

For another method that doesn't require the Revver Desktop App, please check out our Revver Folder Mapping app here:

Step 1 - Open the Revver Desktop App Settings

With the Revver Desktop App open, click on the gear icon at the top right of the window, located in the black bar along the top. This will open the settings menu.

Step 2 - Set Watched Folder

In the Revver Settings window, click on the option labeled "Set Watched Folder". This will bring up a File Explorer window that you can use to choose a location on your computer to be the designated watched folder.

Exercise caution when choosing a watched folder, we recommend creating a new folder specifically for that purpose. Do not choose system folders, user folders, or the root level of your hard drive.

When items are brought into the upload queue from a watched folder and uploaded, they are deleted from that folder. Similarly, if you add an item to the queue using a watched folder and the remove it from the queue, it will be deleted.

Items deleted in this way are not sent to the recycle bin and are permanently deleted.

Step 3 - Choose a Location

Once you have a location chosen, you should see the watch folder path now listed on the settings window.

For a guide on how to set up a watched folder on a Mac OS computer, see the following guide:

Removing a Watched Folder

To remove a watched folder designation, click on the small 'x' to the right of the 'Set Watched Folder' button in the Revver Settings window.

You can also optionally click on 'Set Watched Folder' again and choose a different folder if you simply need to change the location.

Uploading Files Using a Watched Folder

Start by navigating to a location in your Revver account. Click on the 'Documents' button on the left hand side of your screen and open a drawer or folder that you would like to upload a file to.

Then, place a file into the watched folder you configured. The Revver desktop app will pull the file in to be uploaded. Based on the upload settings on your account, it will either enter the file upload queue, or be uploaded automatically.

These settings can be changed by going to your 'My Settings' page and locating them under the 'File Upload Settings' section.
