How to apply and mass apply folder templates

Once created, folder templates can be applied to containers (drawers, folders, etc.) to create standardized folders. For information on how to create folder templates see this article.

This article will cover the ways in which you can apply your folder template to your containers.

Access & Feature Requirements

In order to apply and mass apply templates you will need to have the box checked for 'Create and Modify Structure' under the 'Enabled Features' section of your User's settings:

This option is selected for you if your user is using any of the user permissions presets:

Applying Folder Templates

Step 1 - Select a Container and Open the Apply Folder Template Menu

To apply a template to a single location, navigate to that location and right click it, then select 'Apply Template'.

Step 2 - Select Your Template and Apply

Expand the 'Template Libraries' until you find the template you wish to apply, then select it, and select 'Select':

Once you click on 'Select' the template will begin to be applied. Once it completes you will receive this message 'Template Application Complete':

You may need to refresh to see the new folders added by the template application.

If you wish to apply multiple templates to the same location select the 'Select Multiple' button and add all the templates you want to apply before hitting 'Select'.

Mass Applying Folder Templates

Mass applying a template allows you to add folders and predefined documents en-masse to all of the sub-containers of a container within Revver. Users can continue to use Revver seamlessly while the mass apply folder template operation runs in the background.

This allows you to add the items from your folder template to all of the drawers of a cabinet or all of the folders of a drawer.

Please note that mass folder template applications can take some time based on the number of drawers, folders, and the size of your overall database.

Revver automatically skips creating duplicate folders during mass apply operations. If a folder with the same name already exists, it maintains the existing folder without redundancy.

Step 1 - Select a Container and Open the Mass Apply Folder Template Menu

Right click on the Cabinet/Drawer containing the drawers/folders you wish to mass apply the template to.

Select 'Mass Apply Folder Template':

Step 2 - Select Your Template and Mass Apply

Expand the Template Libraries until you find the template you wish to apply, then select it, and click 'Select':

The template will begin to apply to each drawer contained in the selected cabinet or each of the folders within a drawer if a drawer was selected.

This can take some time depending on the amount of items being applied. When the mass application is complete you should receive the message 'Template Application Complete': If multiple template operations are initiated in quick succession, Revver ensures they are processed in the sequence they were started, enabling organized handling of queued jobs.

Please note, If you do not see the template applied to your structure right away after being notified the application is complete, you may have to log out of Revver and log back in. This can happen when dealing with large amounts of subcontainers.

Additionally, Revver prevents folder duplication when applying templates by skipping over folders that already exist in the destination structure.
