One of Revvers core features is the ability to check out documents. Users with 'Write' access to files can check out files, make edits and changes to then, and then check the file back in to Revver with those changes fully intact.
Access & Permissions Required
In order to access this feature, your user will require the 'Check In/Out' feature enabled.
In addition to the required enabled feature, your user will require the 'Write' item permission on any file you wish to check out or in.
Checking In/Out Files in the Revver Desktop App
Checking out files in the Revver Desktop App is fast and easy and allows for the additional convenience of automatically checking files back in once you are done with them.
How it Functions
To check out a file in the Revver Desktop App, locate the file you wish to check out and right click it with your mouse.
In the right click menu, select the 'Check Out' option. This will download a temporary copy of the file to your computer and immediately open it in the default application associated with that file type.
Checking In Files
Once you are done making changes to the file, save your changes and close the file.
Back in Revver, right click the file you have checked out and select the 'Check In' option. You will be prompted to select whether you want to check the file in with the changes you have made or without them.
Alternatively, hover your mouse over the file you have checked out and click one of the lock icons that appear, representing the option to check in with or without the changes you have made.
Automatic File Check In
The Revver Desktop App allows you to automatically check in files once you are done with them, making the check in process fast and efficient. To enable this feature, click on the settings icon at the top right of the Revver Desktop App window to open the settings menu.
In the settings menu, locate the 'Automatic Check In' option and check the box to enable it.
How it Works
When you check out a file using the Revver Desktop App, make changes to it, then save and close the document, the Revver Desktop App will detect the change and automatically upload the document to Revver to complete the check in process.
It is important to note that if you check out a document, make no changes to it, and then close it, the Revver Desktop App will not automatically check the document back in. The automatic check in process relies on the the 'Modified Date' on the file within Windows to determine when a change has been made to the document. When no changes have been made, the modified date on the document does not change.
If you do not make any changes to the document, you will need to check the document back in manually using the Revver UI.
Check In/Out Settings
The Revver Desktop app allows you to configure where checked out files are stored while they are in use. By default, checked out files are stored in the following location:
%AppData%\Roaming\Revver\CheckedOutFiles
You can configure the Revver Desktop App to store checked out files in a different location from the settings menu. Click on the settings icon at the top right of the Revver Desktop App window, then use the buttons in the Checked Out Files Path section to choose a different location.

The 'Checkout with desktop app' feature allows you to check out files from Revver using your web browser and have those files check out from the Revver Desktop App, allowing you to utilize the desktop apps powerful automatic check in features.
To use it, when checking out a file in your web browser, instead of clicking on 'Check Out', select 'Check out with desktop app' instead.
For more information on this feature, please see the full article below.

Check In/Out Settings
While web browsers do not support Revvers automatic check in features, you can configure how Revver behaves when double clicking on a file. This gives you the option to configure Revver to automatically check out a file when it is double clicked, or prompt you for how you would like to proceed.
This setting is not unique to Revver in a web browser, and the double click setting you choose will work in your Revver Desktop App as well.
To access this feature, click on the 'All Features' option on the left hand side your screen and select 'My Settings'. 'My Settings' can also be accessed from the drop down menu at the top right of the Revver page, where it lists the name of your account.
Locate the 'Double-click File Action' section and choose which action you would like Revver to perform when you double click on a file.
